DEM'S OSCAR YOUTH LITTER CORPS TEAMS TO WORK TOGETHER TO CLEAN LONG POINT AT GODDARD PARK IN WARWICK PROVIDENCE - Young people working on RI Department of Environmental Management's OSCAR Clean Teams from several communities will combine forces for full-scale attacks on litter on Long Point at Goddard Park in Warwick Thursday. On that date, Clean Teams from Burrillville, Johnston, Lincoln, Pawtucket and Warren, and from the Tri-Town Community Action Agency serving Johnston and North Providence will clean up the area between the beach and the boat launch ramp in Goddard Park between 9:30 am and 1:30 PM. OSCAR's Youth Litter Corps Program, now in its twelfth year, is comprised of 33 teams, each including four youths each aged 14-17 and one adult supervisor. The Clean Teams are part of a statewide cleanup campaign funded by the DEM's Ocean State Cleanup and Recycling (OSCAR) Program. The crews work 24 hours a week picking up litter in their communities. Last year, Youth Litter Corps teams picked up 87 tons of refuse and over 1,600 used tires, as well as recycling nine tons of aluminum and glass. | ||
