Between 9:30 am and noon, Clean Teams from Narragansett, North Kingstown, North Providence, Smithfield, Warwick, West Greenwich and Woonsocket and from the Bristol Adult Development/Maher Center serving Portsmouth will clean up the Black Point area in Narragansett just north of Scarborough Beach. OSCAR's Youth Litter Corps Program, now in its twelfth year, is comprised of 33 teams, each including four youths each aged 14-17 and one adult supervisor. The Clean Teams are part of a statewide cleanup campaign funded by the DEM's OSCAR Program. The crews work 24 hours a week picking up litter in their communities. Last year, Youth Litter Corps teams picked up 87 tons of refuse and over 1,600 used tires, as well as recycling nine tons of aluminum and glass. | ||
