PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management has announced new telephone numbers for several of its divisional offices located outside the Greater Providence area.

The main number for DEM's Division of Fish and Wildlife has been changed to 788-8168, and the number for its Great Swamp field office is now 789-7481. The number for DEM's Division of Forest Environment headquarters has been changed to 647-4389. Forestry's George Washington field office can now be reached at 568-2248, and its Arcadia field office can be reached at 539-1052. The new number for the Pawtuxet Supply Depot maintained by DEM's Division of Parks and Recreation is 781-1571.

As a cost-saving measure, the state Department of Administration, Office of Library and Information Services, switched the phone numbers from the state centrex system with a 222 prefix, to local phone lines. Toll-free calling from within the state to the new numbers is available by calling the Rhode Island state government toll-free telephone number at 1-800-752-8088.
