MEDIA ADVISORY

PROVIDENCE - George Wein, CEO of Festival Productions, Inc., the producer of the JVC Jazz Festival and the Ben & Jerry's Folk Festival, will present checks totaling $30,000 to the Fort Adams Trust at a 10:00 a.m. ceremony at Fort Adams on Monday, November 22.

These funds represent the first in a series of three checks totaling $90,000 that will be provided to the Fort Adams Trust by Festival Productions, Inc. over the next three years. The arrangement stems from a provision negotiated by DEM in the new, three-year contract between Festival Productions, Inc. and the state, which provides for an annual contribution of $30,000 to the Fort Adams Trust from the music festival proceeds. The monies will help fund capital improvements to the historic Fort, which has served as the location for the jazz and folk festivals for many years.

In addition to George Wein, speakers will include DEM Director Jan Reitsma; Anthony Palermo, Executive Director of the Fort Adams Trust; Senator M. Teresa Paiva-Weed, Chairperson of the Fort Adams Foundation; and Frank Hale, President of the Fort Adams Trust. George Wein also will announce plans for the jazz and folk festivals in the new millennium.

PLEASE NOTE:

Weather permitting, the program will take place at the East Gate Entrance to Fort Adams. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at Eisenhower House.
