PROVIDENCE - Department of Environmental Management Director Jan H. Reitsma will hold a news conference to announce the appointment of DEM's new Ombudsman at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9.

In accordance with one of Reitsma's major strategic priorities, the Ombudsman position has been redesigned and vested with broad responsibilities and considerable independence. Among other things, the new Ombudsman will be responsible for conducting independent, fact-finding investigations in order to resolve customer problems or complaints in a timely, efficient manner.
