PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management will offer licensing examinations for Class I, II and III Individual Sewage Disposal System (ISDS) Designers during the first week in August. Applications to take the exams must be received by Friday, June 30.

The exam to license Class I Designers will take place on August 1, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Community College of Rhode Island's Knight Campus in Warwick. A pre-examination information session will be held Thursday, July 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at a place to be announced.

The exams to license Class II and III Designers will take place on August 2, at the Community College of Rhode Island's Knight Campus in Warwick. The Class II exam will be administered from 8 a.m. to noon; the Class III exam will be administered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A pre-examination information session for the Class II and III exams will be held on Friday, July 14 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at a place to be announced.

Specific information relating to the pre-examination information sessions will be mailed to applicants who are eligible for the exams, with confirmation of a reservation for the requested exam. Seatings for both the information sessions and the exams are by pre-registration only. Pre-qualification requirements apply for each class of license.

It has been a requirement since last October that all applications to DEM for ISDS designs must be submitted by an ISDS designer holding a valid DEM ISDS designer license. The exams to license Class I, II and III ISDS designers are offered once annually.
