News Release RI Department of Environmental Management
DECREASE IN SUMMER FLOUNDER COMMERCIAL POSSESSION LIMIT BEGINS FRIDAY, JUNE 23 PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management has announced that the commercial possession limit for summer flounder will decrease from 100 to 50 pounds, beginning on Friday, June 23. The decrease is a direct result of higher than anticipated weekly landings this month. The decrease is necessary to keep Rhode Island within the assigned quota allotted by the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council and the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, while providing an uninterrupted supply of fish to commercial fishermen and consumers throughout the entire year. |
