PROVIDENCE - On August 2nd the Department of Environmental Management's (DEM) Office of Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), with the assistance of Woonsocket City officials, conducted an inspection of the abandoned Davison Street landfill. Several samples were taken and submitted for laboratory analysis.

The investigation stems from a complaint to DEM from Woonsocket councilman Vincent Ward regarding alleged violations at the landfill.

In accordance with standard Departmental policy, DEM will have no further comment on this matter unless and until further action is taken.
