News Release RI Department of Environmental Management 235 Promenade St., Providence, RI 02908 (401) 222-2771 TDD/(401) 222-4462
DEM REOPENS THE COMMERCIAL STRIPED BASS FISHERY PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management will reopen the commercial fishery for striped bass on Wednesday, November 22 through Sunday, November 26, with a possession limit of three fish per day. The fishery is reopening because DEM's Division of Fish and Wildlife has reviewed recently reported catch rates and determined that the state's 81,390 pound annual quota of striped bass has not been completely harvested. The action enables the Rhode Island fishing industry to fully utilize that quota, which is assigned to Rhode Island by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. |
