DEM ANNOUNCES THAT THE NEW HUNTING ABSTRACT IS AVAILABLE PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management announces that the 2001 hunting and trapping abstract is now available. The free abstract contains the current seasons and bag limits and other useful information such as legal shooting hours, boating safety and additional regulations.Goose hunters should note that there are two errors in the bag and possession limits for Canada Geese on page 6. The abstract should read "Bag Limit 5" and not 8, as printed. In addition, the possession limit is 10, not unlimited, as printed. Michael Lapisky, DEM Deputy Chief of Fish and Wildlife, reminds hunters that, as noted in the abstract, there will not be any small game hunting on Dutch Island. The island remains closed due to safety hazards. Hunters can pick up a copy of the abstract at most hunting license vendors or at DEM's licensing office at 235 Promenade Street in Providence. The abstract can also be found on DEM's website, www.dem.ri.gov, by clicking on Fish and Wildlife under Programs, then clicking Rules and Regs. -30- |
