DEM SPONSORS HARVEST FESTIVAL AT WARWICK MALL

PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management's Division of Agriculture and Resource Marketing will sponsor the Annual Rhode Island Harvest Festival at the Warwick Mall from Thursday, October 17 through Sunday, October 20.

Throughout the mall, shoppers will have the opportunity to see and purchase a wide range of Rhode Island farm products, from flowers, apples and pumpkins to maple and honey products. Festival displays will include mums, pumpkins, Rhode Island-grown vegetables, nursery stock, apples, garden statuary, and information on DEM's Agriculture in the Classroom program. John Deere and Westville Garage and Farm Equipment will have a large display of tractors ranging from large farm tractors to garden tractors to children's farm toys. The Rhode Island Pumpkin Growers Association will display giant pumpkins weighing over 500 lbs. Confreda Greenhouses and Farms of Cranston will have a large display exhibiting and selling fall mums, pumpkins, decorations and baked items.

Festival participants will also include the Rhode Island Milk Cooperative, Wedgewood Greenhouse of Saunderstown, Secret Garden Herb Farm of Cumberland, Rhode Island Future Farmers of America, Dave-Chris Farm and Nursery of West Kingston, Alpaca's of Henseforth Farm of Tiverton, and the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association of Warwick. Also participating will be the US Department of Agriculture's RI Farm Service Agency of Warwick, the RI Farm Bureau of Johnston and DEM's Division of Agriculture and Resource Marketing.

This is the 16th year that DEM has sponsored the Harvest Festival. Festival hours are Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
