DEM TAKES FARMERS' MARKETS ON THE ROAD TO SENIOR CENTERS

PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management's Division of Agriculture has coordinated a traveling farmers' market to make it easier for seniors to redeem their senior farmers' market coupons. DEM, in conjunction with the Department of Elderly Affairs has issued over 40,000 coupons with a value of $5 each to seniors who are at least 60 years of age and have incomes less than 185 percent of the poverty level. The coupons can be redeemed at farmers' markets throughout the state.

The Division of Agriculture's traveling farmers' markets will be visiting the following senior centers in the near future:
  • Cranston Senior Center
    1070 Cranston Street
    Cranston
    Monday, August 23
    9 a.m. to noon


  • Salvatore Mancini Resource and Activity Center
    2 Atlantic Boulevard
    North Providence
    Monday, August 23
    9 a.m. to 2 p.m.


  • Johnston Senior Center
    14 Pricilla Lane
    Johnston
    Monday, August 30
    10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
