DEM ANNOUNCES THAT FREE "GARDENING FOR GOOD" DEMONSTRATIONS WILL BE HELD AT STATE PARK FARMERS' MARKETS OVER THE NEXT WEEK PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management announces that free "Gardening for Good" demonstrations will be held at farmers' markets in state parks over the next week, sponsored by DEM's Division of Agriculture.The demonstrations will be presented by Mary Beth Miller of Gardening for Good, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational outreach on gardening issues to older adults and elders. The presentations will include displays of container gardens, indoor gardens, accessible tools, photos depicting easy care ideas, and distribution of materials with easy care gardening tips. Each demonstration will also include one-on-one questions and answers on a range of topics from gardening tips to proper body mechanics to reduce injuries while gardening. Demonstrations will be held at Goddard State Park Farmers' Market in Warwick from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 10; at Haines Memorial State Park on Route 103 at the East Providence/Barrington line from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15; and at Colt State Park Farmers' Market in Bristol from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 17. -30- |
