DEM TO SPONSOR INFORMATIONAL BOOTH AT WARWICK MALL'S PRIME TIME SENIOR LIVING EXPO ON OCTOBER 6

PROVIDENCE -- The Department of Environmental Management's Division of Agriculture will participate in the Prime Time Senior Living Expo at Warwick Mall on Wednesday, October 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Expo will provide Rhode Island senior citizens with important and interesting information on a variety of topics. Among the materials that will be offered by DEM are brochures on Rhode Island-grown agricultural products, farmers' markets and roadside stands, pick-your-own berries, apple orchards, honey and maple syrup, Christmas tree farms, and vineyards. In addition, information about the Rhode Island Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program will be available to Expo participants.

Staff from DEM's Division of Agriculture will also offer free samples of Rhode Island- grown and produced food products to those attending the Expo. The products will include assorted varieties of Rhode Island-grown apples and samples of Cabot cheese. Cabot cheese products have won several American and international awards for taste. Cabot is owned by Agri-Mark, a Northeast dairy cooperative owned by most Rhode Island dairy farmers and other dairy farms in the Northeast.

For additional information about the Prime Time Senior Living Expo, call Ron Newman in DEM's Division of Agriculture at 222-2781 ext. 4518.
