DEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND SPORTSMAN SHOW AT URI

PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management announces that it will participate in the Southern New England Sportsman Show at the University of Rhode Island Ryan Center January 14 through January 16.

Hosting a booth at the show, DEM environmental police officers will be on hand to answer questions about hunting, fishing and boating laws, and other outdoor-sports-related questions. In addition, staff from DEM's Division of Fish and Wildlife will host an educational display and be available to discuss freshwater fisheries and Rhode Island wildlife.

Stephen Hall, Chief of DEM's Division of Law Enforcement, says, "Our participation in the show gives us the opportunity to interact with local hunters and anglers, and to provide them with important information about laws and safety, as well as general information about local fish and wildlife."

"The show is the first major such show in Rhode Island," adds Michael Lapisky, Acting Chief of DEM's Division of Fish and Wildlife, "and we are very pleased to have the opportunity to participate in it."

The show will be open on Friday, January 14 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, January 15 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, January 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
