DEM ANNOUNCES GIANT PUMPKIN-GROWING WORKSHOP FOR PUBLIC

PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management announces that the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Growers, with assistance from DEM's Division of Agriculture, will hold its annual seed-growing workshop, free and open to the public, on Sunday, April 24.

The event, which will include exhibits, seed starting, and a question and answer period, will be held at Frerichs Farm on Kinnicut Avenue in Warren, beginning at 1 p.m. Anyone interested in growing giant pumpkins in Rhode Island is invited to attend. Many of the top giant pumpkin growers from Rhode Island and other New England states will be on hand to assist those who wish to grow giant pumpkins. Free seeds will be available.
