DEM FORESTERS TO CROWN YOUNG WINNERS OF WOODSMEN'S COMPETITION AT WASHINGTON STATE FAIR ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 19

PROVIDENCE - Representatives of the Department of Environmental Management's Division of Forest Environment will be on hand at the Washington County Fair in Richmond to crown the Future Farmers of America 2006 overall winners of the Boys and Girls Woodsmen's Competition.

The winners will be determined by how well the teams finished in each of the Foster Old Home Days' and the Washington County Fair's woodsmen's competitions. Members of each of the boys' and girls' two-person teams will be awarded a pair of chainsaw chaps and a helmet with earmuffs and mesh face shield.

DEM's Division of Forest Environment is providing the awards to promote chainsaw safety awareness as part of its celebration of 100 years of service to the people of the State of Rhode Island.
