DEM WANTS TO HEAR FROM BUSINESSES THAT HAD UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS TESTED BY WHITCO/AMERITEST

PROVIDENCE -- The Department of Environmental Management's Office of Compliance and Inspection, along with the Office of Criminal Investigation, has received several complaints from gas station owners regarding the validity of tank tightness testing conducted by Whitco/Ameritest or its representatives on underground storage tanks.

Whitco/Ameritest and its representatives were not licensed to perform UST tank tightness testing after September 30, 2006. If Whitco/Ameritest conducted such tests on your behalf after this date, the testing results may not be valid or may not be on file with DEM.

Businesses that have had their tanks tested by Whitco/Ameritest or its representatives after September 30, 2006 are requested to contact Jack McIlmail, Acting Deputy Chief of DEM's Office of Criminal Investigation at 222-4700 ext. 2204.
