DEM BREAKS GROUND ON NEW "GREEN" BEACH PAVILION AT LINCOLN WOODS

PROVIDENCE - The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management will hold a special ceremony next week to mark construction on a new beach pavilion at Lincoln Woods State Park. The project will update facilities and visitor amenities at the beach while also enhancing water quality in the lake and reducing impacts to nearby wetlands. Lincoln Woods, located just outside the Providence metro area, is one of Rhode Island's most popular state parks, attracting nearly one million visitors each year.

"Our parks, beaches, and natural areas are part of what make Rhode Island so special," said DEM Director Janet Coit. "These assets are core to our economy and culture, and we must continue to invest in them to ensure our state remains a great place to live, visit, and raise a family. Parks like Lincoln Woods are also vitally important to connecting urban communities to the outdoors, providing a safe place for families to recreate, and fostering the next generation of environmental stewards."

Attending:
  • First Gentleman Andy Moffit
  • U.S. Senator Jack Reed
  • U.S. Congressman David Cicilline
  • DEM Director Janet Coit
