MISSION
To develop new, and enhance existing policies and programs to support sustainable ecosystems and economies. Methods include policy research and development; planning; outreach and strategy development with constituents; and administering environmental indicator and performance measurement systems to continually improve performance and environmental results.


The Office of Strategic Planning and Policy (SPP) is responsible for developing policies and plans to meet the Goals of the Department; working with constituents and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to meet the goals; conducting research on environmental and natural resource stewardship issues as well as departmental functions; developing environmental indicators and performance measures; developing and maintaining systems to track progress; analyzing and reporting on progress and results; and making recommendations for continuous improvement.

SPP works with many partners and constituents within and without the Department to develop, administer and coordinate projects such as the following.
