State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP)
The Office of Strategic Planning & Policy coordinated development of the seventh edition of the State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP). This plan establishes state goals and policies for outdoor recreation, conservation, and open space in Rhode Island. The plan was approved by the State Planning Council as an element of the State Guide Plan and by the National Park Service, as the State of Rhode Island’s State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan for the 2003-2008 period. In developing the plan, the Office of Strategic Planning & Policy undertook a statewide attitude and interest survey to help determine citizen usage, satisfaction, needs and priorities for outdoor recreation. The results appear in the Outdoor Recreation Demand Survey.

Asset Management Plans
The Office of Strategic Planning and Policy completed two asset management plans (AMP's) that evaluated the conditions of the forestry and recreation facilities at state parks, beaches and management areas. The plans found that more than 200 high prioroity repair or replacement projects, totaling nearly $10 million dollars were needed. The plans alo made recommendations for increasing funding to sustain state recreation facilities.

The Rhode Island Parks and Beach System Asset Management Plan, completed in January 2001, evaluates State parks and beaches. This is the main body of the Plan - hard copies of the appendices are available upon request.

The Rhode Island Forestry Asset Management Plan (Forestry AMP), completed in December 2001, evaluates the forestry and recreation facilities at the state management areas managed by the Division of Forest Environment.
