South County Technical Planning Assistance Project

drawing of creative land-use development scenario RIDEM teamed up with the Rural Lands Coalition to offer communities technical planning assistance to explore new, creative ways to guide commercial and residential growth in a more environmentally-sensitive manner. The so-called Technical Planning Assistance Project produced four documents; South County Design Manual, Model Land Use Ordinances, Rapid Site Assessment Guide, and Farm and Forest Protection Strategies, that demonstrate how communities may better plan for growth without compromising environmental quality and community character.
