The license year begins March 1st and ends on the last day of February, annually.

Purchase licenses online at https://rio.ri.gov/ or at participating City/Town Clerks and authorized licensed vendors. Veterans with a current 100% disability, or Individuals with 100% Permanent Disability (permanent) may obtain their license at DEM's Boating Registration and Licensing Office at 235 Promenade St., Providence, RI 02908, in person or by mail.
