Hazardous Waste Generation Fee Task Force DEM has established fees for companies that generate hazardous waste. DEM had initially drafted a fee schedule for the hazardous waste program based on three tiers of generators. This schedule was discussed at the Business Roundtable meeting in February 2002. The group suggested that DEM consider approaches that assess fees more in proportion to the amount of waste generated and incorporate provisions that encourage pollution prevention efforts.A DEM stakeholder group met to discuss the fee issue. DEM amended its regulations and are effective January 1, 2003. Changes to the regulations were based on discussions of these meetings and comments received at he public hearing.
