Planning for Growth
The Office assists communities to plan for sustainable development that minimizes negative impacts to the environment and preserves community character and meaningful open space.  This also involves assisting the Governor’s Growth Planning Council to develop policies to encourage growth that is both economically and environmentally sound.

Natural and Recreational Resources
The office is assisting communities to identify and protect their important natural, cultural, and recreational resources.  This also involves promoting sustainable natural resource based businesses to reduce fragmentation of forestland.
