RIUST staff moves into DEM

August 4, 2006
Re: Rhode Island Underground Storage Tank (UST) Review Board Staff

Dear Stakeholder:

This correspondence is being sent to make you aware of some changes that were enacted as part of the State budget for fiscal year 2007 that directly impacted upon the RI UST Review Board. Among those changes was a mandate to integrate the existing UST Board staff into the RI Department of Environmental Management (DEM). As a result of that integration, which was effective as of July 1, 2006, all future claims and communications regarding reimbursement should be sent to:

RI Department of Environmental Management
Office of Waste Management – UST Section
235 Promenade Street Providence, RI 02908
Attn: Michaela Brockmann, Program Services Officer

Any follow up questions or concerns regarding the above submissions will be answered by contacting the Office of Waste Management @ (401) 222-2797 (or fax 401-222-3813): Michaela Brockmann, Program Services Officer @ ext. 7104, James Robison, Principal Environmental Scientist @ ext. 7177, or Lori Ann Cirella, Implementation Aide @ ext. 7107. Specific questions or concerns regarding State or Municipal tank assistance, should be directed to Mr. Thomas Lazieh @ (401) 222- 6822, ext. 4409, in the DEM Office of Technical & Customer Assistance.

To ensure a smooth transition, it is DEM’s intention to maintain the existing claims review process currently in place. The final decisions on reimbursements will remain subject to a vote by the UST Review Board. Should you have any questions or concerns, however, please feel free to call the contacts above.

Sincerely,

Leo Hellested, P.E., Chief DEM – Office of Waste Management
