The Environmental Protection Agency’s Proposed Approval of Rhode Island’s Revised Underground Storage Tank Program
The Rhode Island State Underground Storage Tank (UST) program applied to the EPA for approval of revisions to its UST program. The EPA has determined that revisions to the Rhode Island UST program satisfy all requirements for approval. The EPA has published a Proposed Rule and Direct Final Rule in the Federal Register dated December 11, 2020. Public comment must be received within 30 days of the date of publication in the Federal Register. This rule is effective 60 days after publication in the Federal Register, unless the EPA receives adverse comment. PUBLIC NOTICE
All federally regulated Single-walled Underground Storage Tanks and Product Pipelines must be removed and permanently closed prior to December 22, 2017 or 32 years from the date of installation, whichever is sooner. This does not apply to most heating oil USTs used for on-site use. View details and a list of facilities which contain single-walled components
