Portsmouth Town Dump Bulletin Board

The Department has become aware of the need for a centralized location to allow more regular communication regarding the closure of the Former Portsmouth Landfill off Park East Drive in the Island Park Area of Portsmouth. This privately owned municipal landfill is undergoing closure in the Department's Landfill Closure Program. View plans and specific information.

7/19/19 Cap Modification Plans and Approval
5/2/19 RIDEM conducted a field investigation. The attached report summarizes the deficiencies and corrective actions.
04/30/18 RIDEM issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) for a site remediation violation.
03/27/18 RIDEM conducted a field investigation report.
08/11/17 RIDEM issued an Expedited Citation Notice (ECN) for a site remediation violation.
05/31/17 RIDEM conducted a field investigation report. The attached report summarizes the findings.
03/23/17 RIDEM investigates another complaint about dirt on the road adjacent to the Site.
03/08/17 RIDEM Offices of Compliance and Waste Management perform joint inspection to investigate complaints of flooding on the site, sedimentation into the marsh and excessive dirt on the street. View field investigation report
12/20/16 APE informs the Department of their intent to comply with the deadline for closure.
12/7/16 Notice of Intent to Enforce issued by RIDEM/Office of Compliance and Inspection (OCI). Notice states that the Department may take additional action is closure is not completed within 180 days.
9/20/16 Deadline for completion of closure. Closure did not happen at this time. Site was referred for enforcement.
9/20/15 Beneficial Use Determination Approval expires. This allowed soil that meets industrial/commercial standards to be used for subgrade material at the site.
