Boating Safety Challenge Exams

Wear it Rhode Island logo

There is no registration and no fee for this exam. There is also no age limit, but be advised that this test deals with material that may be complex for younger children. We highly recommend taking the full boating safety course to insure you and your family understand the material required to operate and navigate vessels on the water safely.

In order to prepare for this exam to receive certification, there are two study methods available to you at no cost. You can contact DEM/Environmental Police at (401) 222-3070 for the home study packet or you can access an online study course at: https://www.boat-ed.com/rhodeisland/

Please bring a #2 pencil and identification. A parent must be present for a child under the driving age without identification. Answer sheets will be provided for you at the exam site. The testing time runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. You may come at anytime during the course of the exam, however, no one will be allowed into the exam after 7:30 PM (NO EXCEPTIONS)

TESTS WILL NOT BE GRADED ON SITE. YOU CAN EXPECT TO RECEIVE YOUR RESULTS VIA MAIL IN ONE-WEEK.
